2009 Fishing Derby Photos

The Sealant and Waterproofing Association held its 6th Annual Fishing Derby on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Port Credit Marina once again. A total of 5 fishing vessels were chartered, carrying approximately 29 fishermen (1 fisherwoman) from SWA. The morning rain stopped, and the afternoon became warm and partly cloudy by the time everyone set sail. “Captain Dolly” of the Salmon Express II explained to all participants that the weather was perfect for a good day’s catch!

Several hours of enjoyment took place on the waters of Lake Ontario, and the bragging rights for “biggest fish” went to Frank Lecce for his salmon weighing 18.72 lbs! Coming in second was Matt Roberts with a salmon of 16.82 lbs. Marla Cosburn, the only woman in the derby, did a fantastic job of reeling in a salmon of 15.50 lbs! A total of 22 fish were caught at the end of the day. Congrats to everyone!

A special thank you is extended to all the boat captains, with a special thanks to Paul Hanratty and Craig Bowie for looking after the arrangements and prizes.

Following the derby, attendees enjoyed a buffet dinner and prize presentations at the Brogue Inn, Restaurant and Irish Pub in Port Credit.
