SWA Seminar on the EIFS Council of Canada Quality Assurance Program
April 9, 2008

On Wednesday, April 9, 2008, the Sealant and Waterproofing presented a luncheon seminar at The School Restaurant in Unionville, on the topic of the 'EIFS Council of Canada Quality Assurance Program'. Over 55 persons attended.

SWA President Andrew Porciello of Maxim Group General Contracting introduced John M. Garbin, President of the EIFS Council of Canada, as the guest speaker. Andrew further stated that John brings an excellent pedigree to the EIFS industry in Canada, having been instrumental in the start-up in Canada of a major EIFS manufacturer while at the same time playing a lead role in the formal launch of the industry in this country. As well, he was the founding member of the Council in Canada in 1987.

The major components of the presentation that were of particular interest to SWA members included:

" Manufacturer evaluation and licensing
" Contractor accreditation and licensing
" Installer certification and accountability
" Conflict resolution
" Bonding requirements
" 3rd party warranty and inspection

Mark your calendar for the SWA golf tournament on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Caledon Woods Golf Club. As well, another luncheon seminar is being planned for Thursday, September 11, 2008 on the topic of 'Urethane Traffic Deck Coatings on Extended Slabs - Pros and Cons.'
